| A. Phimister Proctor
Born in Ontario, Canada, A. Phimister Proctor became one of America's leading sculptors. Moving to Des Moines, Iowa, and finally settling in Denver, CO, the future artist had ample opportunity to climb the mountains and learn of animals in their native habitat. By twenty-five Proctor realized his need of better thrining, and went to New York to the National Academy of Design. At the World's Fair in Chicago in 1893, Proctor sculpted a whole series of Native American animals. Proctor is primarily known for his fine animal subjects, revealing throughout the knowledge and research of this wonderful sculptor.
