SUMMARY:Catching Shadows on The Plains - Edward S. Curtis Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Born in Wisconsin in 1868\, Edward S. Curtis developed an early interest in photography. At the age of twelve\, he built his own camera using a lens his father brought home from the Civil War. By the age of seventeen\, he began his formal apprenticeship in photography. Within three short years\, he launched his own studio\, Curtis and Guptill\, Photographers and Photoengravers. However\, his big break came in 1906\, when he partnered with J.P. Morgan on a lifelong project that would make national headlines—The North American Indian. \nEdward S. Curtis—Self Portrait \n\n\n\nIn partnership with prominent art collector\, curator\, and friend\, Tim Peterson\, Woolaroc Museum is proud to announce the grand opening of their exhibition\, Catching Shadows on the Plains. This stunning exhibition pays homage to Curtis\, who devoted decades of his life to preserving indigenous culture\, including the Plains tribes who were featured in the project. It is on display in the Woolaroc Museum’s gallery through December 31st\, 2026.  “Without their collaboration\, our country would not have these incredible photographs to appreciate and learn from\,” states Shiloh Thurman\, Museum Director at Woolaroc. \n\n\nGrand Opening for Members Only on Saturday\, April 25th\, at 6 pm.\nThe exhibition is on display to the general public from April 26 through December 31\, 2026.

SUMMARY:Spring Trail Ride
DESCRIPTION:The country retreat of oilman Frank Phillips—Woolaroc—is hidden away in the beauty of the rolling Osage Hills. The trail ride covers approximately 15 miles of terrain that is rarely\, if ever\, seen by the general public. Nothing would have pleased Mr. Phillips more than to have known that riders were enjoying his ranch doing something he loved to do… ride. It is common to see bison\, elk\, deer\, and longhorn cattle along the trails of Woolaroc. \nRiders must supply their own horse\, gear\, and negative Coggins. \nRegistration check-in time is from 7 – 9 am\, and the ride begins promptly at 9:30 am. Lunch and the rest period are from 12 to 1 pm at the front gate pavilion. From 10 am to 5 pm\, non-riders can enjoy the main grounds of Woolaroc. \nREGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT HAS ENDED \n
